Classic Australian Music from 1977

In 1977 I was in my last year of high school and music was becoming an important part of my life, along with the beach! If you lived in Sydney like me you were listening to Ian MacRae on 2SM. You probably even went to the Rocktober Concert.

We still had Malcolm Fraser as PM back then, and it was also the year Don Chipp formed The Democrats.

In January of 1977, we were all stunned by the Granville Train Crash which saw so many lives lost. It was also the year that Griffith anti-drugs campaigner Donald Mackay went missing.

St George Dragons were Premiers in 1977 & North Melbourne won the VFL. Alan Moffatt & Colin Bond had their historic side-by-side win of that years Bathurst race.

Famous Aussies born in 1977 include Darren Lockyer, Cadel Evans, Garth Tander, Jason Ackermanis and Brad Haddin.

Australian Music was huge with bands like Sherbet, Little River Band, Richard Clapton, Midnight Oil, The Angels and many more quality acts.
